Knit a pretty summer sweater~
The new Vertigo top is colorful and lightweight. It's an easy knit created with two yarns.
The top is actually knitted mostly sideways with our Bamboo+ and Ten-spot yarns. The yarns create a lovely play on textures with a touch see through effect in the Ten-spot yarn. The front and back of the body get knitted flat, you then create a heavier neckline, boat neck style with two strands of the Bamboo+ held together in a 3 by 1 rib stitch.
A few short seams, then you get to pick up and knit stitches around the arm opening in the same 3 by 1 rib stitch used in the neckline. So you do both, knit flat and in the round.
The pattern is fully written, has a schematic photos depicting the finishing touches.
Knit kits are for all sizes ranging from 34/36/38/40/42/44/46/48/50 to 52" in bust with a build in positive ease of 4 to 5". The length is between 23 and 24". The stripes change slightly for the larger sizes. The sleeve length is 6" and the circumference between 18.5" and 20".
Knit kits include
- Main yarn, 2 skeins of Bamboo+, enough for each size listed with short sleeves as shown in the sample. Each skein has a subtle sheen and holds 272 yards/100 grams in a DK weight. A blend of 60% bamboo and 40% cotton. Machine wash warm/dry flat.
- A single skein of the all new Ten-spot for sizes 34 to 46". 340 yards/42 grams a skein, all in lace weights in cottons and linens. Sizes 48 to 52" get an extra 102 yards added.
- The printed pattern and emailed PDF file.
- All packaged in a convenient project bag.
- NOTE: If you want to create long(er) sleeves for the larger sizes 46" and up, you might need another Bamboo+ skein, for the smaller sizes, you should have enough yardage.
Notions
- 2 US size 6 (4 mm) circular needles, one 16" (42 cm) for the sleeves and one 36" (91 cm) in length for the body.
- 12 lockable stitch markers used during finishing.
- Tapestry needle for finishing.
Gauge: 16 sts and 26 rows in 4" of stockinette stitch measured with Main yarn in DK weight yarn.
Techniques applied: Knitting and purling flat and in the round, binding off loosely, weaving in ends, picking up and knitting stitches, seaming sides and shoulders, blocking for best results.
