The new Toppler hat or beanie is knitted in the round and makes for the perfect colorful topper for your head this fall. The stitch pattern is easy to accomplish, looks like cable knitting but is isn't, so no cable needle is needed. This hat grow quickly with the yarn held double throughout. Great for gift knitting!
The pattern is fully written and also offers a chart in two sizes, small and medium fitting up to 22" head circumferences. I am wearing the small version here. Each kit holds enough yarn for both sizes.
The knit kit includes
- Two skeins of our washable Allero yarn in a light worsted weight, 154 yards/50 grams/1.75 ounces per skein in a blend of 50/50 cotton/acrylic. You can knit either size from a single kit.
- The printed pattern and emailed PDF file.
- All packaged in a convenient project bag.
- NOTE, the fun faux fur poms come with either a button or a snap for easy removal when your hat needs washing but are not included. They are available in several sizes and styles in our This & That Collection.
Notions
- US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle 16" (42 cm) in length.
- A stitch marker to mark beginning of rounds.
- Tapestry needle for finishing.
Gauge: 14 sts and 21 rows in 4" of stockinette stitch with yarn held double.
Techniques applied: Knitting and purling, slipping a stitch over two others, decreasing, cinching remaining few stitches with tapestry needle and securing on inside of hat. You can certainly add a cute pom and we have some great styles avaiable.
