The new Riley is an unconventional topper for sure. So is it a top, a poncho or????
A few things are for certain, it is definitely a fun knit, loose fitting, richly textured, super comfy and also pretty chic, I say. You wear it over a tank, tee, blouse or dress even.
The two lacy sides going up the front, over the shoulders and then down the back get knitted first in a pretty, yet easy lace pattern. You then create the front and back middle body parts with a deep squared neckline in a simple, yet fun to do slipped stitch pattern. Connect the middle pieces to the sides with the help of a photo tutorial in the pattern.
The sides of the topper are left open as in my sample but if you prefer, you can seam them to make it into a bonafide top. You can even wear it inside out for different textures to enjoy~
The one size fits most blocked size measures 18" in length, 56" in width. Gauge is important here, so if you are a tight knitter, go up a needle size or even two or add extra skeins to add more repeats in width and length, since it's a straight knit, it won't be difficult to do and the pattern gives you guidance.
The pattern is fully written, offers two charts and helpful photos for the few finishing touches.

- The one size fits most kit includes 3 Skeins in three color combos of Stipple, a new richly textured exclusive to Yarnz2go yarn. 120 yards a skein in a fingering weight. Each skein is combination of two yarns, a cotton and a linen, one of them in a thick and thin texture. There is an option to make your top bigger in the middle body and you can add an extra skein below.

- US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle 29" (74 cm) in length.
- Tapestry needle
Gauge: 13 sts and 30 rows in 4" of stockinette stitch.
Techniques applied: Knitting and purling, slipping stitches, knitting and also purling two stitches together, binding off, weaving in ends, seaming and blocking.
