The Peyton sweater~
This is definitely a new favorite of mine with a casual look and a wonderful soft feel. Peyton is knitted top down, in the round. First with two yarns held together, adding great adorable bits of textured bits and colors to the yoke of the top. The sleeves are short, though you can easily lengthen them, of course more yarn will be needed and there is a link below to the Bamboo+ yarn.....
The neckline is slightly rolled, the body is knitted with a single color in stockinette stitch down to the ribbed edge. The knitting is easy with simple knit and purl stitches, see the techniques used below for more details.
The pattern is fully written, has a schematic and a measurement chart, for sizes ranging from 34/36/38" 40/42/44" 46/48/50/52/54". A generous amount of positive ease between 13" and 17" is worked into each size, so the top hangs loosely. See the measuring chart below....
The knit kits include
- C1- 3/3/4 skeins of Bamboo+, a DK weight in a Bamboo/Cotton blend. 272 yards/100 grams a skein.
- C2- Trinklet, 1/2/2 skeins in a lace weight yarn with added colorful textured bits. 435 yards/50 grams a skein.
- The printed pattern and emailed PDF file.
- All packaged in a convenient project bag.
Notions needed
- US size 6 (4mm) circular needles. One 16" (42 cm) and one 32" (81 cm) in length.
- Stitch marker for marking beginning of round.
- Scrap yarn to place stitches on hold.
- Tapestry needle for finishing.
Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows in 4" of stockinette stitch.
Techniques applied: Knitting and purling in the round, holding two strands together for the yoke, working with single color for the body, increasing by knitting in front and back of stitch, placing stitches on hold, picking stitches back up to be joined in the round with extra stitches cast on for the sleeves, weaving in ends and blocking for best results.
