The Newell poncho is definitely a sharp looking accessory to wear It's actually a great wardrobe essential. It's like this...."Knitting is the new black".
From the rolled neckline created raglan style, to the mock cable stitch and stacked lace stitch patterns, all get knitted in the round with our cool Organic cotton yarn. Then the project gets split up to be knitted flat in relaxing garter stitches with our specially arranged Yarnology skein that has color, textured and weight changes all worked in, all you do is work it from the skinny yarn to the heavier end. Another striking detail is the single crochet edge created around the middle opening accessorized with a coconut button. It sound like a lot but it is all broken down into easy pieces and knitted/crocheted rather easily.
The pattern is entirely written and also offers charts for the lace and the mock cable patterns.
The poncho as seen here measures 19" in length, 24" in neckline circumference, 53" in bust circumference. The slit is about 10" high and the bottom circumference measures 98" with a 7" opening build into the slit. You do get a chance to make it wider and longer, the pattern tells you when and where to go about it.
Knit kits include
- One of our exclusive Yarnology skeins. Each is hand tied with 7 changes of yarn in texture, color and weights. 238 yards a skein in cottons, rayons, bamboos, linens and blends of them in lace, fingering, sport, DK and worsted weights. Each skein is wound to order.

Notions needed
- US size 6 (4 mm) circular needle 16" (41 cm) in length
- US size 10 (8 mm) circular needle 36" (91 cm) in length
- Stitch markers, four for pattern repeats and one distinct to mark beginning of rounds.
- Crochet hook in size 5.5 mm, size I for finishing.
Gauge: 16 sts and 24 rows in 4" stockinette stitch with DK weight yarn/size 6 needle. 13 sts and 18 rounds in 4" stockinette stitch with DK weight yarn/size 10 needle.
Techniques applied: Knitting and purling in the round, raglan style increases, lace knitting, a mock cable stitch, color changes, stretchy bind off, single crochet stitch finish, weaving in ends, blocking and lastly ...sewing on a button.
