The new Gates wrap definitely has a fun organic, even whimsical look to it.
It is a modular knit but no worries there is no seaming involved and the knitting is really easy. There is a simple slip stitch pattern, a cool - yet easy lace pattern and relaxing garter stitch that gets used in the last portion. You even get a free shawl pin with your kit to hold it in place and we all can use an extra one, right?
The pattern is fully written, has two charts and a photo tutorial for the finishing touch.
The wrap when blocked, measures 41" around the top, 45" around the bottom and 15" in height.
The knit kits include
- 3 skeins of the new Stipple yarn, a wonderfully textured fingering weight yarn. Each skein holds 120 yards with 2 strands of super lightweight yarns, one is a thick and thin cotton, the other either a cotton or could be linen as well depending on color. The color ways compliment or contrast each other and each skein is wound to order.
- A neutral engraved coconut shawl pin about 1.2" in diameter is included at no extra charge.
- The printed pattern and emailed PDF file.
- All packaged in a convenient project bag.
Notions needed
- US size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle 32" (81 cm) in length and this is optional, for Part 2 of the pattern you may prefer a set of straight needles.
- Lockable stitch markers, 16 used during finishing.
- Tapestry needle.
Gauge: 13 sts and 30 rows in 4" of stockinette stitch.
Techniques applied: Knitting, purling, slipping stitches, knitting stitches together, yarn overs, binding off, picking up stitches to be knit, weaving in ends and connecting two sections of the wrap with strands of yarn with a double knot treatment.
