The intriguing name of "Party cowl" came actually from the yarn used and not because I am big partier. My idea of a party these days is a skein or cake of fabulous Yarnz2go yarn and some needles....
Using just one of the new Ultimate yarn cakes as shown here in a new color way called "Party" knits up this quick project to whip up. The cowl knitted in the round from the bottom up in simple knit and purl rows to create a bottom Garter stitch border. The middle sports a wonderfully easy, yet very effective staggered cable pattern, which pretty much continues to the top edge.
The unblocked measurements are: 9" in height and 28" in the bottom edge circumference.
The knit kits include:
- 1 Ultimate yarn cake, 100 yards in a bulky weight. Each cake consists of 5 strands (500 yards in total) of various colors, textures and yarn weights. Every cake is special, some are colorful, some more tone on tone.
- The printed pattern and emailed PDF file.
- All packaged in a convenient project bag.
Notions used:
- US size 11 ( mm) circular needle 24" (61 cm) in length
- 1 Stitch marker
- Darning needle or crochet hook for finishing
Gauge: 11 sts and 14 rows in 4" of Stockinette stitch
Techniques used: Knitting and purling in the round, cable knitting, binding off, weaving in ends and optional blocking.
Level of expertise: Advanced Beginner
